Stainless Steel Cookware

Stainless steel alone does not have good heat conduction. Buy stainless steel cookware that has an aluminum or copper clad bottom. This will optimize the heat conduction and ensures your food to cook evenly. Having one or both of these metals on the bottom will  allow stainless steel cookware to adapt better to temperature changes. Stainless steel is made of several types of metals, two of which are chromium and nickel. A good quality set will have a guage of 18/10 which means that it is 18 percent nickel and 10 percent chromium. This will ensure that the set will be durable and won't rust or scratch easily. The higher the numbers the better quality the metal.

Aluminum Cookware

Aluminum cookware has good heat conduction, but since it is a soft metal, it may scratch or dent easily. Non-Stick Cookware

Nonstick cookware has several advantages. Less oil is required when cooking with this type of cookware which, reduces your fat intake and clean up is very easy. When cooking with a non-stick surface, the chance of burning your food is reduced. If you choose this type of cookware, make sure not to use metal utensils or abrasive cleaners, as it will cause permanent scratches. The coating used for this type of cookware can melt at very high temperatures or if used in an oven. Non-stick cookware is usually not dishwasher friendly and it can also be difficult to brown food.

Porcelain Enamel Cookware

Porcelain enamel is a glass like finish. This type of cookware is beautiful, durable, easy to clean and scratch resistance. It does not burn easy and is easy to clean. Porcelain enamel cookware does not rust and cleans well with soap and water. Consider quality when purchasing porcelain enamel cookware as a lesser quality set may chip, resulting in unwanted chips in your cuisine. Porcelain enamel cookware does not react to acidic foods and cooks evenly.
